Curacao konènchi

They are fluffy, they are lean, they are small and oh so cute! The Curacao konènchi is unique and the only one of its kind in the world! If you come early or in the late afternoon, chances are you’ll spot a cottontail.

During the day, the Curacao konènchi hides from the blazing sun, lying flat on the ground, blending in perfectly with its surroundings. This makes them very hard to spot, just like their nests. Unlike other rabbits who dig tunnels underground, the konènchi makes a small pit in the ground and covers it up with manzaliña leaves. The park is home to many manzaliña trees, making this an ideal park for this protected native species.
