This specimen is extra special because of the spot where it decided to grow, a testament to the dry conditions that this native plant can withstand. This tree is a member of the same family as the Palu di sia blanku. They also have another family member, de Palu di sia kòrá. All the trees of this family drop their leaves as soon as the rainy season ends. The Takamahak has distinctly different leaves, compared to the other species of this family.
