The Dutch name is Geelhout. This tree is often the first to lose its leaves when it has not rained for a while. The fruits of this tree resemble small, shiny green apples and resemble the manzaliña fruit. Just like the manzaliña, these apples are not for human consumption, but birds love them! The apples burst open into segments and reveal the bright orange-red flesh.
